We were thrilled to support Caitlin Yeo, a 15 year old change maker in Llanelli dedicated to making a difference to the narrative surrounding body confidence. The event on the 23rd March 2019 combined a (belated!) International Women’s Day event with the #Activeforchange Girlguiding campaign, encouraging young women to take action on the issues they care about.
The event captivated the diverse audience with inspirational speakers, young entertainers, Laughter Therapy, belly dancers, choir singing and interactive stalls from local organisations. In addition, a photo gallery revealed a brilliant group of local women bravely getting their kit off to challenge their own body confidence demons.
Alongside inspirational local speakers, we all also heard from women like Bryony Wiffin, promoting the brilliant work of Chwarae Teg and their Agile Nation 2 project, improving the position of women in the workplace.
We asked some of the attendees what advice they’d give to women and girls of the world, and their messages (some featured below) really shouted about inner strength, assertiveness, acceptance and capacity to evoke change in the world.
With an audience of women, men and children from a wide range of ages and backgrounds, the event was the perfect platform to engage people in conversation about our new learning programme around ‘Imposter Syndrome’. Make sure you’re on the mailing list to hear about dates and venues across South West Wales for the workshops, and the launch of our brilliant new growth space ‘Your Development Hub’.
